It is very important to do God’s work, but as I have previously mentioned, the sum total of the work that God has given us to do is to believe in the finished work of his dear son, Jesus the Christ. There are however many instances of work that many have passed off or labelled as the work of God that do not meet His definition of work. When we spoke earlier about spiritual growth we also established that the ability to discern, both good from evil and the best from the good is a sign of spiritual growth. It is not merely doing things in the name of the Lord that makes what we do acceptable to him. Rather it is doing things in his Spirit that credits our accounts with the rewards for work. Anything done by the Spirit of God has to be in his spirit.

This afternoon I was given old and torn $50 note and I almost refused it but the person who was giving me the money said something that touched me. He said are you worried about the looks of the paper or the value of the note.

I want to say to someone when God created you He blessed you Gen 1:28 say God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

No-mater how the world has done to you, you might be despised, hurt or even broke let me tell you something. YOU ARE BLESSED. Your value does not change because of your situation. Did you know that your value to God is not determined by anyone including you. Just as the value of the note is note determined by the note or anyone but the source, It was determined by Christ on the Cross of Calvary. He saw that you are worthy to die for on the Cross. ‪#‎Wakakosha‬.

What this means is that you have the ability to produce fruit, the ability to multiply, to fill the earth and subdue it. So don’t be sorry for yourself. Raise your head and shoulder and be confident in Christ bcoz #Wakakosha

I always shudder and wonder. Every time I see a friend or a colleague posting that they are now married. It seems all heavenly; all romantic and beautiful. I always marvel at the beautiful wedding pictures. There are many talented photographers and wedding planners out there. I celebrate, I am happy for my friends. But I cant put that thought away from my mind. That thought of failed marriages, unfaithful men, abusive men. I cant put that thought away, because I have seen and read of many of those stories, where the happy ever after story ends in tears, in separation; in suicide; in abuse.

The Rise of Esther

We all aspire to move from the level we are to another level. We all desire promotion, a next level of breakthrough or even a change of the status quo to the better. Many of us are not happy with the positions we are at the moment. This can be in terms of our careers, personal possessions, marital status, spiritual level, or general level in life. We all at one point feel insignificant, ignored or unknown, just like the humble beginning of Esther, an orphan child, in a foreign land. Num 27:20 Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.

Mat 7:28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,

Mat 7:29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Mat 8:9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

Mat 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

Luk 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

The other transaction which is very important for humans is the transaction with the spiritual beings. These beings include the devil and the demonic beings. What is critical when dealing with these beings is our position. In that respect we use authority as a currency when dealing with these beings and our position is critical then to deal with these.

Definitions

Authority

  • delegated influence:-  jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.
  • to have (wield) full privilege over: – exercise authority.
  • the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.
  • the power to give orders or make decisions : the power or right to direct or control someone or something.

As the children of God we have authority which we use when we deal in the spirit realm. With that authority we can drive out demons, sicknesses and diseases.

The Source of Authority

The source of every form of authority is the power that gives that authority or the power that backs that authority. As the children of God the source of our authority is our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 10:19)

  • We operate on delegated authority given to us by Christ. As you exercise that authority you will have the backing of Christ so that means every spirit will not be able to challenge you because challenging you will be challenging the one who sent you (Jesus Christ).
  • The only limiting factor to the level of authority that you will operate in authority is your knowledge of
    1. The authority that you can walk in. You get this from reading and understanding the scriptures.
    2. The Lord who has given you the authority. You need to know the Lord Jesus and to know the power that He has. With that knowledge you will not doubt His power over the spirit world.
    3. The relationship you have with our Lord Jesus Christ. The knowledge of our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ will help you understand you access and position in the Lord.
    4. You also need to understand how to access this authority. As children of a God who is all powerful we have access to His power but our use of that power is also limited to the knowledge we have on its usage.

When to Use Authority

Here are some of the examples where we can use our authority.

  1. During Evangelism

When we go for evangelism inasmuch as we use wisdom to present the gospel in a proper way we will also face spiritual beings resisting the gospel. These beings may even influence people by blinding them to the wisdom of the gospel of Christ. At the point we can cast out these spirits or confront them. This is the reason why we need to pray before we go for evangelism, to sharpen our spirits so that we may discern such spirits.

  1. When attacked by sicknesses etc

There are sicknesses and diseases which are caused by demonic oppression. Whenever you experience or see someone with such you have to use your authority as a son of God to cast out that disease. Realise we were given power over all sicknesses and diseases.

  1. Deliverance

We also need minister deliverance to those who are bound by the enemy. No one using natural power can set themselves free so it is the sons of God who are supposed to use the authority of the saints who can deliver such.

  1. Breaking Bondages and curses

There are also those who are bound and cursed. With the power given to us we can break the bondages and curses upon their lives. The Apostles in the book of Act were in the habit of breaking such bondages and curses using the same authority.

How to Use Authority

Operating in authority simply means that I am not using my power maybe because they are not enough. This means that a person operating under authority needs to understand that they are not able on their own by they need another person’s power.

  1. So as you operate in authority you just have to surrender to the Lord. Be a servant and live a surrendered life. A surrendered life means I am not able but I rely on the power of the one who sent me.
  2. You also need to be confident in the power that sent you. This is faith. Have faith in God as you operate under authority and never be intimidated by what you see for we walk by faith and not by sight.
  3. Follow the word of God. What is God saying about the situation you are in? What does the Word of God say? That is the most important thing to follow the instructions of Him who sent you and whose authority you are operating under.

As the sons of God we are in Christ and we reign with Him in the Heavenly places. Galatians 2:20 says it is no longer I that lives but Christ in me. This means that I should operate at the same levels that Christ was operating in when He was here on earth. Acts 1:8 shows that we received power when the Holy Spirit came upon us. This is the power of God which is now resident in our lives and we can use it over every situations in our lives.

So live in the authority of Christ.

  • Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
  • Rom 3:23-24 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
  • Eph 2:8- 9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.”
  • Pro 3:34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.
  • Luk 2:40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
  • 1Co 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them–yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

As we commune with God do we ever wonder how He communes with us? As I have already discussed in my previous articles when dealing with fellow men we use wisdom and when trading with God we use faith, however on the other hand when God is dealing with us He uses grace. Grace is the currency which God uses to deal with men.

Definitions

  • Grace is the free and unmerited favour of God as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings. This means we do not deserve but God does it just because He wants to.
  • Grace is divine assistance given to humans for salvation and sanctification.
  • God’s act of freely reaching out to people because he is willing to be near and to bless them

Why Grace?

  1. Man did not deserve

Having sinned and rebelled against God man did not deserve to deal with God. Man had agreed to obey to the enemy’s voice and disobey the Lord’s voice so man did not deserve salvation etc but God offered free unmerited favour through His Son.

  1. Man came short of the glory of God

After the fall man was not in a right position to transact with God. The law came and proved that man could not fulfil the needs for righteousness. With all his abilities man failed to meet the Lord’s demands and therefore God had to come in, on His own willingness (by Grace)

  1. God was willing

We can deal / transact with God because God was willing to overlook our failing and willingly come to our salvation. It is not that we did anything to convince God but it was God Himself who willingly offered to save us.

  1. God paid the price

God paid the price for our rebellion through his only begotten Son Jesus Christ. This is an act of grace which meant that by grace we now have access to God again.

Where and when we can use grace

Grace is available to us all for life and godliness. What we then need is to operate and live within that grace of God. When you live outside the will of God you might not be able to access the grace of God for certain things. It is therefore important to understand that to benefit from grace you operate by faith and obedience. This is just like normal currency trading. If for example I give you $US because that is the currency I use you will give me an equivalence in ZAR as it is the currency you use. In the same way you go to God with faith and He will give you the grace for whatever you are believing Him for. Below are some of the instances where you need the grace of God.

  • Grace for salvation

Realise that the Word of God says (Eph 2:8) that we are saved by grace through faith. So the first time you and I need grace is for us to re-establish our relationship with God. You come to God with nothing but just as you are and by grace you are saved through faith (Which is also a gift from God)

  • Faith given by grace

Faith which is our part in the salvation and receiving process is also a gift of God’s grace. Yes faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God but it is God who gives this faith by grace. This is why there are theologians and professors of the bible who do not have faith in God. Faith is a product of the grace of God.

  • Grace for our walk

At one point Paul prays to God to remove a thorn in his flesh but God says my grace is sufficient for you. (II Cor 12:9) What this means is God is saying in your situation nothing will harm you because you are operating under my cover. As you walk the walk of faith you need the covering of the grace of God so that whatever you do even if it is difficult you have the confidence that since God is on your side you will make it. Job’s life was also a life lived under the grace of God.

  • Grace in service

As you serve the Lord you need the grace of God to sustain you. It is as you serve in the area of your calling that you serve willing without struggling even in a hostile environment because of the grace of God. When Paul was beaten and thrown out of the city and left for dead he rose up and continued preaching because he knew that the grace to preach Christ was still available (Acts 14:19)

  • Grace for the blessing and healing

We receive the blessing and healing of the Lord by grace. Job was restored in his wealth and health by the grace of God. Realise that there is nothing that you can do, but to operate in faith and wait for Him for He is moved by grace.

How we operate in grace

  • Locate your grace

The area of your calling is the area of your grace. Your purpose is always equipped with tools to fulfil it. So it is critical to know and understand your purpose and assignment. Within that is your grace.

You also need to understand your seasons and places. There is a time and season for everything under the earth. Within your season is the grace for the season and the place you are at.

So you need to locate your grace in your purpose, assignment, season and place.

  • Operate within your grace

As you live you need to have the assurance that God would say to you “My grace is sufficient for you”. Paul says “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.” (Phil 4:12-14)

Paul was able to operate in both hostile and favourable environment and not get discouraged but excel because of the strengthening of the grace. Even the Philippians came in as a provision of grace.

So when you have located your environment (Purpose, Assignment, Time and location) of your obediently act within that environment.

  • Operate in a covering

When you serve in an Apostolic House you also function in the grace of that house as you become an extension of that house. Paul and Barnabas had successful missionary journeys because they were sent by the church at Antioch and operated under the grace cover of Antioch. The prayers, teachings and wisdom of Antioch helped them along their journeys.

This means that you need to serve and serve faithfully in your house that you are fellowshipping in. That way you will flow in the grace of that house.

Living in the Word

The grace of God is available when you grow in your knowledge of the Word of God. The Word of God is the source receiving from God always.

Conclusion

Christianity is centred on the grace of God. Without His grace there is nothing that we could do to be able to relate and transact with God. God continues to deal with us on the same grace platform meaning answers to prayers are all received by grace. He will also continue operating by grace such that even heaven is by grace.

  3. Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

 

Introduction
Transactions between Man and God are some of the most common transactions in the spiritual world. As the children of God we need to be dealing with God every time and it is crucial that we understand some of the critical elements to such transaction. Some of the transactions are

  • Prayers (Petition, intercessions)
  • Sacrifices
  • Tithes and offerings
  • Praise and worship
  • Serving
  • Obedience

Now what I have realized is that while on a man to man relationship we are negotiating and the currency we use is wisdom when man deals with God, our relationship is sonship and the currency is faith. Whatever you do for God you have to do it by faith.

Definitions

As I put it in my first article we acquire knowledge then understand it. After understanding it if dealing with man you use wisdom but if dealing with God you use faith. Now the knowledge that you need to acquire and understand (interpret) is the Word of God. Rom 10:17. That is the knowledge that will bring faith and that is the knowledge that we will use in relating, dealing or transacting with God.

Faith: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.- Heb 11:1

  • Faith is the evidence or substance of the things we hope for based on the knowledge and understanding of the scriptures.
  • Faith is standing on what you have read from the scriptures and not moving from that.
  • Faith is believing that God is true and every man a liar (Rom 3:4).

Some Principles On Faith

  1. We Start Our Relationship With God By Faith

Salvation is through faith in God (For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—Eph 2:8) Faith plays a pivotal role in our salvation and that shows its importance in our relationship with the Father.

 

  1. We Walk With God By Faith (II Cor 5:7)

Our walk with God is a walk of faith. This is one thing that God will be looking for in our lives, faith. For us to have successful or fruitful transactions with God we need to be people who walk by faith.

 

  1. We Will Stay With God For Ever By Faith

We will see Him in the clouds one day and it is those who would have received Him and walked with Him by faith who will be raptured and will live with Him forever.

 

  1. Without Faith It Is Impossible To Please God.(Heb 11:6)

If we need faith to please God then faith is the most important thing for us as we relate with God. It is pivotal in us receiving and living a life that pleases God. Faith is key.

 

  1. Anything Done Outside Faith Is Sin (Rom 14:23)

“…everything that does not come from faith is sin.”

Whatever we do be it prayer, sacrificing, giving or service when you do it outside faith it is not acceptable before God. This means no transaction done outside faith is acceptable before God actually the Word of God call such transactions sin.

 

  1. When Christ Comes Back He Will Seek Faith. (Luke 18:8)

“I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Faith is one of the key things that Our Lord will seek when He comes back. This should mean that He will not take those without faith.

 

  1. Faith Is The Victory That Overcomes The World.(I John 5:4)

“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

Faith is the tool that we use to overcome the world.

I am sure that from this we realize how important faith is to us as children of God. It is the currency that we use to trade with God.

It is also important that we realize the importance of information as we transact with God. We need transactional knowledge and understanding. The level of transactions you will be able to trade in is proportional with the level of knowledge and understanding of the scriptures.

This should give us a picture of why some of our prayers are not answered. When you do not have knowledge and understanding of a transaction you are entering into, you may offer $20 for a car and definitely the transaction will not go through and you may wonder why. The reason is you offered too little and you did that because of lack of lack of knowledge and understanding. So you may offer prayers when you need just to worship God and thus you will not receive.

You may also offer $2 million for a bed worth $500. Yes you will get the bed but the effort put was too much. There are times where you will fast for days and nights to get something that you could get by just believing God or standing on the Word of God.

We need to develop our relationship with God as we grow and mature in faith in God.
